ELX286 is an authentic real-time multitasking monitor that fully exploits the features of 286 protected mode while maintaining compatibility with ELX-86M designed for PC9801. ELX286 provides an environment that allows effective use of PC-9800 Series PCs with 286/386/486 CPUs in FA and LA applications, including monitor control, machine control, and measurement control. ELX286 is a product of choice when building systems featuring quick response, concurrent I/O processing, memory space exceeding 1 Mbyte, and/or program protection. ELX286 also helps you standardize and recycle I/O and application programs.

Efficient multitasking	Register as many tasks as the memory space allows. The executing tasks are switched in the shortest time possible.
Address space expansion	Supports iAPX286 protected mode, allowing address space expansion to 16 Mbytes.
Reinforced program protection	Supports protected mode, providing reinforced program protection between monitor and user tasks and between user tasks.
Support for standard devices	Supports keyboards, text/graphics displays, standard RS-232C interfaces, floppy disk drives, hard disk drives, and printers.
Built-in I/O drivers	I/O drivers can be incorporated when user-specific I/O devices are to be used.

Application programs written on MS-DOS	The application program of each task is written in C or an assembly language. A generator program generates a system image file.
