ELX-86M/PC98 is a real-time multitasking monitor used with PC-9800 Series PCs. ELX-86M provides an environment that allows effective use of PC-9800 Series PCs in FA and LA applications, including monitor control, machine control, and measurement control. ELX-86M is a product of choice when building systems featuring quick response, concurrent I/O processing, and/or large memory space. ELX-86M also helps you standardize and recycle I/O and application programs.

Efficient multitasking	Register as many tasks as the memory space allows. The executing tasks are switched in the shortest time possible.
Support for standard devices	Supports keyboards, text/graphics displays, standard RS-232C interfaces, floppy disk drives, hard disk drives, and printers.
Built-in I/O drivers	I/O drivers can be incorporated when user-specific I/O devices are to be used.
Support for multiple windows	Allows multiple text/graphics windows to be handled as if they are multiple display units.
Ample function library	Prepared with C compiler system call (monitor instruction) functions, file management functions, and text/graphics functions.
Application programs written on MS-DOS	The application program of each task is written in C or an assembly language. A generator program generates a system image file.
Support for loading to ROM	Programs are loaded to ROM to maximize operability and reliability.
Overlay	The program of each task is registered in a system file. Then it can be resident in memory or loaded into memory per task as needed.
Ample optional drivers and tasks	A range of I/O drivers and tasks are available as options according to the application.
